Getting Bigger. Benoni Kota Fest Becomes a National Platform
What started as a Benoni celebration of one of South Africa’s most iconic street foods has officially grown into something the whole country is going to know about. Kota Feast — formerly Benoni Kota Fest — has announced its rebrand and with it, a bold national vision. Three events. Three cities. One culture.
“The kota is the heart of everything we do. This evolution is not about moving away from the culture — it is about expanding the world around it.”
From Benoni Streets
To a National Stage.
Founded by Wilfred, Kota Feast was born from a simple but powerful belief — that the kota, South Africa’s beloved township sandwich, represents far more than a meal. It is a symbol of creativity, community, flavour, and shared culture. Since its inception as Benoni Kota Fest, the event has drawn thousands of attendees, inspired passionate brand partnerships, and built a reputation as a genuine celebration of kasi life on the East Rand.
Now the rebrand to Kota Feast signals something bigger. With confirmed events in Phuthaditjhaba, Benoni, and Polokwane, the platform is stepping beyond its Gauteng roots to connect with communities across South Africa. The kota remains the heart. But now, the table gets bigger.
A Language We
All Understand.
The kota creators. The hustlers behind the counters. The chefs turning simple ingredients into something unforgettable. Kota Feast exists to give those people the platform and the recognition they deserve — and to remind everyone that the most iconic food in South Africa didn’t come from a restaurant. It came from the streets, from the people, from the culture.
At previous events, brands like Clover, Nando’s, and Sunbake have been part of the experience — not as ads, but as genuine participants in the culture. That’s the Kota Feast difference. When a brand is here, they’re part of something real.
Three Cities.
One Culture.
More Than a Festival.
A Cultural Platform.
Kota Feast is designed to deliver stronger national growth and community reach across South African provinces, elevated consumer experiences anchored in authentic township culture, deeper cultural storytelling, and immersive brand activations for partners seeking meaningful consumer engagement.
Say It Again Media will be covering Kota Feast throughout 2026 — from Benoni to Qwa-Qwa to Polokwane. This is exactly the kind of SA culture story we exist to tell. Stay close.
