BLACK The Voice Behind The Mic
Phindi Black, 30, is from Benoni, Gauteng, and she’s built a career on one simple truth — she doesn’t just hold the mic, she moves the room. A presenter, MC, content creator, and communications professional, she’s spent years hosting television, radio, podcasts, red carpets, and live events, interviewing some of South Africa’s biggest names along the way. Behind the camera, she brings a background in PR and digital marketing that lets her bridge brands and audiences with the same energy she brings on air.
I don’t just hold the mic, I move the room.
It Started
With A Microphone.
Phindi’s love for storytelling, entertainment, and connecting with people goes all the way back to primary and high school, where public speaking was her first real stage. That early confidence in front of a room eventually turned into television presenting at a young age, and from there her lane just kept widening, radio, MCing, content creation, digital communications, all built on the same core instinct: using her voice to create meaningful conversations and represent brands authentically.
Red Carpets And Big Stages
One of Phindi’s biggest breakthrough moments came from covering major entertainment events and interviewing some of South Africa’s biggest artists on the red carpet. Presenting at Soweto Fashion Week, TOMZ on SABC1, and the SAMA Nominee Announcement gave her serious visibility, and opened the door to a steady flow of presenting and MC opportunities that followed.
Echoes Of The City.
Every Week.
These days, Phindi co-hosts Echoes of the City on Bogart Radio alongside Sinaye Kotobe and Tyrone Da First, a culture show streaming weekly that pulls in guests from the Amapiano and Afro-house scene. Artists like Cow Boii and Trixie have sat across from her, talking music, lifestyle, and pop culture in conversations that Phindi drives with the same energy she’s brought to every stage before it.
Brands.
Creatives. Colleagues.
Phindi’s built her name partly through the brands she’s worked with, and partly through the people alongside her. Here’s where her name and her collaborations show up.
Front Row At The Durban July
This year, Phindi got to interview international sensations Tresor and Ciza at the HollywoodBets Durban July, right there in the Ascots Marquee. It’s the kind of moment that sums up where her career is headed, bigger stages, bigger names, same energy she’s always brought.
Building The
Phindiblack Brand.
Phindi’s next chapter is about scale. She’s focused on expanding the Phindiblack brand through more television and digital presenting opportunities, corporate MC work, and strategic brand partnerships. Alongside that, she’s growing her presence across the entertainment industry more broadly and developing new lifestyle and media projects, all while continuing to bring the same authenticity and high-energy delivery that’s carried her career this far.
