Picture Perfect is the brainchild of Abel Phogole, Founder and Creative Director, and Hopewell Masango, Co-founder and Event Producer. No partners, no sponsors, no investors behind it — just two guys from the East Rand who built a concept around bringing people together and let the culture do the rest.

Every edition gets its own lineup, chosen around whatever mood and tone the founders are setting for that specific day. Social media has done a lot of the heavy lifting for the brand’s growth: the visuals are unique, they’re fresh, and even as the crowd Picture Perfect attracts has evolved, Abel and Hopewell have adapted the tone and elevated the energy each time without losing the original goal.

The names on the bill change with every edition — that’s part of the format. For this one, Picture Perfect has locked in Dali Wonga, Zee Nxumalo, Shakes and Les, Cowboii, Thatohatsi, Uncool, T-Man Express, Emtee, Soul Natives, Wade, Nvcho, Regal and Fino, with more still being added.

Half the appeal of Picture Perfect is who shows up and how — every corner of the White Mountains turns into a backdrop, and the crowd treats it that way.

No two Picture Perfects run the same way — that’s the point, according to the founders. Since the last edition in March, they’ve spent the months in between studying every detail of what worked and what didn’t, going into 3 October with more research behind them than any edition before it.
